training this sunday

thursday june 18, 2009, by viru

I would just like to reiterate about training this Sunday. As a reminder we are having once a month training sessions which are a little longer. The last one was well attented and it would be fantastic to see lots out again this time

Where - McKinnon parade Fields
When? 1-4pm

Nicole is training as an AFDA coach and will be a great coach so it will be a really valuable session. We hope to work on throws again, as well as some cutting.

monthly training

saturday may 09, 2009, by viru

This is a quick email to let everyone know about a new way that Flycatchers are going to go about training this year.

In the past we have held regular trainings each Sunday Arvo in North Adelaide. However these trainings have been extreemely poorly attended and it ended up being a waste of our time. However, learning the basics about Ulti is vital for everyone (begginers and intermediates a like) and very important if you want to improve your skills.

Therefor this year the senior group is going to run a series of workshops on a Sunday Arvo once a month. Seeing as this is a fairly small commitment (one Sunday arvo a month) we would really like to see as many of you out there as possible.

The first workshop is going to be held on Sunday the 17th of May at the McKinnon Prd fields in north Adelaide (where we used to train) from 12pm till 3 ish. This session will focus on the basics of throwing, catching and marking. Each session will finish with a pickup game where we can put all the ideas into practice.

In the future we will run workshops on cutting and timing, man defense, zone defense and offense against a zone.

I look forward to seeing you all out on the pitch on Sunday the 17th of May. If you have any questions let me know.

sunday trainings etc

sunday april 05, 2009, by birdboy

Hi Everyone

Congratulations on a good start to the league. The format for Sunday trainings has yet to be decided, however it may involve just a regular pick-up game (open invite) organised by duncan. Stay tuned. Also if you would like Wednesday nights at the fields 630pm there will be people to throw the disc with.

Cheers
Matt

beginner tourney a success

wednesday march 18, 2009, by viru

Thanks to everyone that made the Flycatcher’s come-and-try night a success. We had about half a dozen people trying out Ultimate for the first time as well as many beginners playing, so hope you all continue to play in the upcoming leagues.

come-and-try ultimate!

friday february 13, 2009, by viru

There will be a beginner/social tournament on Saturday Feb 28 (6:30 to 10:30) at the ALFC fields on Goodwood Road, just south of South Terrace.

The cost is $12 and will include pizza and a cold drink afterwards.

Please register at the link below as soon as you can so that we have an idea of the interest. If you want to play and you can't find a team just add yourself to the pickup team.

big kev's beach tourney money raised

thursday january 08, 2009, by viru

Thank you all to those who played in Big Kev's Beach Tourney. We had 10 teams and about 80 players, including about 20 beginners. It was a great fun day of Ultimate at the beach.

In the end, we raised about $550 for The Sam Roberts Family Fund (http://www.cycle4sam.com) which raises money for Paediatric Palliative Care Services. A deserving and worth while charity.

Thank you all.

big kev's beach tourney and safda awards

sunday december 28, 2008, by viru

Thanks to Kev and Dutch and everyone who helped run Big Kev's Beach Tourney on the weekend. Another successful beach tournament, pity it only comes around once a year.

The SAFDA Awards were held on the same night, and two awards went to Flycatchers. Darren Richardson got best new player, and Viru Gajanayake got the Mike Palmer award (for lifetime service to Ultimate in SA)
